“Education is what remains after one has forgotton what one has learned from school” ~ Albert Einstein
The ideal learning environment is supportive with the educator in the role of “facilitator”. The educator understands that the student comes with prior ideas and understanding. It is the educator’s job to make the students thinking visable, then help them develop specific intellectual skills. The educator can support and help adjust thinking, but the goal is to give opportunity for active trail and error experiences! Technology is a tool that helps morph the educator into the coach! It allows the educator to personalize the curriculum to each student. Educators are forced to let go of control and give the students flexibilty to find use of their own knowledge. In my experience the Chromebook has been a valuable tool as the students create their own style of learning. This form of technology is simple without a lot of bells and whistles. The students can navigate with some practice. Lessons presented on the chromebook allows the student to have their personal learning experience as they interact with the websites selected by the teacher. Socially, all teachers and students will need to connect with peers. They will need to find ways to promote self care, rest, and have some mind breaks. We are embarking on a new frontier!
